Jennifer Torrence: “9 Bells” &
“Institute for Post-Human Performance Practice”

December 6, 2018 · Juliane Schütz

One of my favorite projects this year: I got the chance to photographically document a  performance of “9 Bells”, presented by percussionist, performer and musician Jennifer Torrence at NMH Oslo, and I was hooked immediately.

Prior to that, I shot through the entire rehearsals which allowed me to catch the flow and prepare myself for the actual performance(s) as well since I had brought a tiny tiny selection of tiny tiny tools and effects I had to choose from wisely in order to properly communicate what I perceived 🙂 I was eager to capture the different expressions and emotions that surfaced during the rehearsals, and you can find the rehearsal documentation for “9 Bells” here.

This gallery below features the highlights of the actual “9 Bells” performance, followed by the installation/docu “Institute for Post-Human Performance Practice” by Jennifer Torrence & Trond Reinholdtsen. Plus there is an “Institute for Post-Human Performance Practice” behind-the-scenes gallery available, too!
